Experienced, individualized chiropractic care focused on movement, comfort, and your everyday life.
An Approach That Fits You
A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled movement applied to a joint, often in the spine, to help improve joint motion and address certain types of musculoskeletal discomfort. Adjustments may be one part of a care plan for back pain, neck pain, restricted movement, and related symptoms.
At Access Chiropractic Center, Dr. Alena Kalamaris brings more than 28 years of chiropractic experience to each patient visit. She considers your symptoms, health history, examination findings, activities, and personal comfort before recommending a treatment approach. The goal is thoughtful care, not a one-size-fits-all routine.
What Happens During an Adjustment?
Some adjustments use a quick, precise hands-on movement to a restricted joint. You may hear or feel a popping sound, which can occur when gas is released within a joint; a sound is not required for an adjustment to be effective. Other approaches involve specialized tables or positioning techniques. Dr. Alena explains what she plans to do and adjusts the approach as appropriate to your comfort and clinical needs.
Techniques We Use
Dr. Alena draws on hands-on chiropractic methods including Diversified, Thompson, and Gonstead. Depending on your needs, she may also incorporate Pettibon-based approaches or Flexion/Distraction, a gentle table-assisted technique. The Activator and ArthroStim instruments can be incorporated with the manual and table adjustments or used on their own for the most gentle approach to the chiropractic adjustment. These names describe methods within chiropractic treatment, not separate appointments you need to choose in advance.
Your Visit Starts With a Conversation
Before treatment, Dr. Alena reviews your current concerns, any relevant injury history, and your goals. A physical examination helps determine whether chiropractic care may be suitable and whether additional evaluation or referral is appropriate. If imaging is clinically indicated, digital X-rays are available at our office. She then explains the findings, talks through treatment options, and answers your questions.
Care That Goes Beyond the Visit
Adjustments may be paired with rehabilitative exercises, stretching, posture guidance, or therapeutic massage depending on your needs. Progress and visit frequency should be reassessed over time based on your response to care and individual goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do all chiropractic adjustments involve twisting or popping?
No. Techniques vary, and a popping sound is not necessary. Dr. Alena can explain the approach she recommends and discuss any concerns before treatment.
Will I need an X-ray?
Not necessarily. Imaging decisions depend on your symptoms, examination, and clinical circumstances. X-rays are not routinely required for every patient.
How many visits will I need?
There is no single schedule that fits everyone. The number and frequency of visits depend on your condition, goals, and response to care. Dr. Alena will discuss her findings and proposed next steps with you.
